October 2022 Pamlico Pix: Lynn Lewis, Jill Conkwright and Ted Wampole
Welcome to Pamlico Pix, a monthly look at the beautiful photography coming out of Pamlico County. If you would like your photo to be considered, please email it along with a short summary of who you are and how you did it: [email protected]
(All photos are welcome, including smart phone photography, family photos or photos of old prints.)

Photo by Lynn Lewis, "I took the photos with my Android phone. This picture was taken down at the landing on Kelly Watson Rd in Lowland. You can see the round stern of my husband's boat through the brush. It was taken in November 2020."

Photo provided by Jill Conkwright, "I caught this big drum this Summer off Little Swan Island in the Neuse River….just off the shore….I have caught these big drum for the last 5 years and I love it….it is an absolute thrill when they hit the line but an even bigger thrill to eventually reel it to the boat and land it….it took me probably 20 minutes to complete the process and the closer to the boat they get, the harder they fight and they inevitably attempt to go around the front of the boat to cut the line on the anchor….I’ve had this happen after an exhilarating and exhausting 15-20 minutes of “fight” to all of a sudden have the line snap and go empty….you can’t keep these breeder drum and must get them unhooked quickly and release back into the water…they go into shock if not released quickly….get a quick photo and gently lower over the boat and watch them swim away….so fun for an old woman."

Photo by Ted Wampole, "I took the picture down at the Broad Creek Marina at sundown on June 13th actually while on an after-dinner walk with my wife. My wife, Sue, and I moved to Fairfield Harbour in August 2021. We are both retired, relocating here from Wilkes-Barre, PA, where many of our family still reside."
