What does visual journalism mean to you? What stories would you like to see?
We want to hear about what you want from community journalism here in Pamlico, and also to share some new ideas we have brewing.
We will be at The New Village Brewery in Oriental from 3-7 p.m. Please join us.
Meet National Geographic Photographer Andrea Bruce
Andrea Bruce grew up here in the county. She attended Pamlico High and served breakfast at M&Ms (which Marsha Shirk, her mom, owned back in the day).
She left to study photojournalism and went on to become a noted community news photographer in locations that range from other parts of rural America to far-flung destinations like Syria and Iraq for the Washington Post, then for the New York Times and National Geographic Magazine.
She came home in 2020 and started her own publication to share visual-first stories of Pamlico County.
Now, she is seeking more ways to serve the county, share county news and history and help folks learn more about their own visual storytelling.
Down County is starting a new photography opportunity called Down County Lens…join us at the Brewery to learn more.
