March 2023 Pamlico Pix: Doug Carawan, Chuck Forrest and Tobey Rice

Welcome to Pamlico Pix, a monthly look at the beautiful photography coming out of Pamlico County, NC. If you would like your photo to be considered, please email it along with a short summary of who you are and how you did it: [email protected]

Photo by Doug Carawan, "I was born and raised in New Bern, next to my grandparents on my dad's side. Both my grandmother and grandfather were born in Hyde County and moved to Hobucken at a young age and stayed until they married. After I got my driving license, I would bring him to Re Mayo fish house to get 2 dozen crabs. He would tell me about growing up and making a living working on the water. This picture was taken on a field trip with Coastal Photo club, New Bern, we did landscapes in Pamlico January and February. Shot 20 seconds long exposures, blured the water. I have lived in Pamlico County for almost 48 years, I now live between Grantsboro and Arapahoe next to the house my mother was raised in, part of my grandfather's farm. Alway told my mom two things I would never do marry a girl from Pamlico and live in Pamlico, I did both. I love the beauty of this county."

Photo by Chuck Forrest, "I rushed down to the marina to catch this...I looked for the sailboats and bridge in the forefront...rather than from the top of the bridge...."

Photo by Tobey Rice, “My girlfriend and I decided to fish the canals down an old field road. We were tying up baits and it began to rain. I turned around and lo and behold, a double rainbow. I snapped a picture to capture the beautiful moment."
