Eleazar Yisrael, Down in the County’s reporter and photographer, is on his way to graduate school to study technology as a tool of engagement in journalism; wonderful news for him, sad news for Pamlico County. He will be missed!
Luckily, Lara Manetta will be our new meetings reporter and director of development. Welcome Lara!!

A note from Lara:
Hi all,
I’m excited to join the staff at Down in the County. I’ll be taking over coverage of our bi-monthly County Commission Meetings. I’ll also be lending a hand with the publication’s sponsorship efforts and securing the funding that lets us bring news to you.
I’m especially excited about our plans for direct sponsorship of long-form content, offering deep dives into the stories most important to local people and businesses.
I studied journalism at the University of South Florida. My career took some detours which included everything from entertainment blogs to ghostwriting to web advertising. I always wanted a chance to get back to the important work of reporting.
As major news sources continue to consolidate and eliminate coverage of smaller towns, local coverage like ours becomes more and more vital. I’m looking forward to helping local news thrive here in Pamlico County.
