January 2023 Pamlico Pix

Greg Piner, Marsha Shirk and John Shearer

Welcome to Pamlico Pix, a monthly look at the beautiful photography coming out of Pamlico County. If you would like your photo to be considered, please email it along with a short summary of who you are and how you did it: [email protected]

(All photos are welcome, including smart phone photography, family photos or photos of old prints.)

Photo by Greg Piner: "Nancy and I were lucky enough to see the SpaceX streak pass Oriental last Sunday evening. I took the photo a little past 6:00. It was perfect timing as the booster rockets separated and made there way back to Cape Canaveral as the reflection of the sunset was still visible."

Photo by Marsha Shirk: "I made this during the full moon after New Years at the Oriental United Methodist Church Labyrinth, lit with tea lights, with my iPhone 12 mini."

Photo by John Shearer: "I moved to Stonewall in October of 2020 to be closer to my sailboat refit project in Oriental. Last Christmas 2021, I stepped outside and took my iPhone to shoot this photograph of the lighted Seasons Greetings sign and downtown Stonewall including the United Methodist Church. The sign was conceived by Stonewall Mayor Charles Alexander some years ago and I particularly like it because it speaks of inclusivity of all faiths and cultures."

Send any photos of Pamlico County my way, especially if they show some of our history or your own family memories. [email protected]
